Families choose Bay Creek for a variety of reasons. Some families are lured by the pristine setting on the Chesapeake Bay. Others are drawn by the chance to challenge two of the East Coast’s most acclaimed golf courses and yet others are attracted by the variety of neighborhoods, housing options and price points.
New owners Sam and Debbie Frye are a little different.
“The amenities are great, but honestly we chose Bay Creek for the quietness and solitude and the small-town feel,” Sam said. “We wanted to get away from all the crowds, traffic and noise,” he said. “We get here and we just relax and re-energize.”
“Our friends and family are always telling us we need to slow down and relax,” Debbie added. “Bay Creek is the perfect place to do that.”
The Frye’s recently completed a home in Bayside Village and it will serve as a second home and vacation getaway. They’ve named it Sunset Dreamin’ in honor of their third-floor view that looks west over the Bay and into the sunset.
It was built by award-winning custom builder Jason Lambertson of Gateway Builders. “We’ve built multiple homes in our lives and this was probably the best experience we’ve had,” Sam said. “Jason is a top-notch builder and really easy to work with.”
The Frye’s currently live in Williamsburg, VA where Sam is a defense industry consultant, a James City County police officer and chaplain, and a pastor at the Williamsburg church he and Debbie founded three years ago.
They’re also avid motorcyclists and their matching Harley Davidson Street Glides can often be spotted on Eastern Shore back roads. They have two children – Samantha, 31, and Aaron, 28, along with two Labradoodle therapy dogs that accompany them to area hospices and hospitals.
“Our dogs have fallen in love with this place and feel right at home,” Debbie said.
