Family Fun Day was a Winning Event

To the editor:

This past Sunday at Marina Villages, Bay Creek sponsored a Family Fun Day. This day was the perfect ending for the 10-day-long VisionFest. The event was extremely well-organized with activities running from a touch tank to kite making. Even though VisionFest was labeled "all in the name of real estate," this day was truly an enjoyable afternoon for so many families. Many people worked endless hours to make this day a success. I was honored to be a volunteer and was encouraged by the multicultural group in attendance.

Every child left the event with a smile on their face. Parents stumbled out with piles of creations, and unrecognizable children were transformed by the awesome face-painting clown. A huge sea monster, 14 feet long, came to life as children frequently stopped to decorate this colorful creature with streamers and colored paper. This monster can be seen in the halls of Kiptopeke Elementary.

Also in attendance was Thelma Peterson with her carousel masterpieces. What a treat that will be for all of us to watch her paintings come to life.

Some have negative thoughts about Bay Creek, but on Sunday there weren't any real-estate sales pitches or any million-dollar homes. There were just families enjoying a gorgeous afternoon at a beautiful place on the Eastern Shore. Hopefully, Bay Creek will sponsor another Family Fun Day next year.
